Message from the General Manager
A historic chapter in Indian Railways began on the issue of landmark Gazette Notification No. 2024/E&R/1(1)/3 by the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board). The South Coast Railway (SCoR) officially stands constituted with its headquarters in the vibrant city of Visakhapatnam, effective from June 1, 2026.This momentous transition marks a strategic evolution in our network's operational capability, designed to optimize resource allocation, enhance supply chain resilience, and offer unparalleled service to our passengers and freight partners across the region.
Our New Structural Footprint
The establishment of South Coast Railway reflects the aspirations of millions of people of this region and the strategic importance of this region in India’s growth story. This area, with its extensive coastline, a number of ports, existing and new industrial clusters have immense potential for Indian Railways, which we can exploit with the focused attention, which can be given. South Coast Railway now comprises four key divisions, restructured for optimal performance:

With the above our zone is positioned as a critical maritime and industrial lifeline for the nation.
The Path Forward: Digital and Operational Excellence
As we layout our departmental frameworks, We are actively driving digital transformation across our infrastructure, including advanced automation and collaborations to integrate state-of-the-art management tools. The establishment of a new railway zone presents challenges that are both complex and unprecedented. We are tasked with building systems, processes, administrative structures, and organizational culture from the ground up “A slim and Smart Railway”.
As we pursue growth, modernization, and expansion, there is one principle that must remain uncompromising: Safety. Furthermore, as the pioneer zone for cutting-edge safety and security frameworks like the KAVACH Automatic Train Protection system and Artificial Intelligence based CCTV Systems will be implemented.
A Call to Action
The birth of a new zone is a rare and monumental task. It demands absolute coordination, meticulous planning, and a shared vision. I have complete faith in the expertise, resilience, and dedication of our officers and staff to make South Coast Railway a model of operational efficiency and safety.
The story of South Coast Railway has just begun. The pages that follow will be written by our dedication, professionalism, teamwork, and vision. Together, we will build an institution worthy of the aspirations of the people we serve and the nation we represent.
